The Chiropractic Adjustment
After your chiropractor goes over your Report of Tests from the initial visits, you will begin with your chiropractic care. The goal of the chiropractic adjustment is to correct the spinal misalignments called SUBLUXATION. SUBLUXATION is a condition of the vertebrae or bones of the spine being out of proper alignment and putting pressure on the nervous system. This pressure results in a loss of communication between the brain and body. One of the last signs of a subluxation is pain. By the time the pain signal has arisen there has already been numerous negative effects to the body due to the misalignment of the vertebrae.
It is the job of the chiropractor to deliver the proper adjustment to place the bone back in proper alignment. Our offices use Activator, Gonstead, Thompson, Pierce, Webster, Toggle and Diversified techniques to make the necessary adjustments to the spine. Unfortunately, the muscles connected to the subluxated vertebrae get accustomed to their improper position and have a tendency to pull the bone back out of place. It may take several adjustments before the chiropractic adjustment “holds,” and the bone settles and maintains its proper alignment and mobility, therefore allowing the spine to become more stable.
