Pediatric
Parents are often surprised and unsure about the idea of taking their babies and children to the chiropractor. Most children do not have issues with low back pain or neck pain, so why do they need to go to the chiropractor? The answer is that children still get spinal misalignments that can cause interference in the nervous system, also called SUBLUXATIONS. The nervous system controls everything in the body, so any interference in the signals carried by the nervous system (spinal cord) can lead to problems throughout the body. This can include things like respiratory, digestion and immune system issues.
All infants encounter their first trauma through the birth process, whether natural birth or cesarean section. Then as the child grows they continue to encounter the minor traumas that occur with development and play. As children move into adolescence, they start to become more active in sports and other physical activities that also lead to minor traumas to the body. Some examples of these minor traumas include:
- Falling while learning to walk
- Learning to ride a bike
- Rough playing with other children
- Growth spurts
- Playing contact sports
These types of traumas can result in spinal SUBLUXATIONS in your child. As stated above, this can lead to interference in the nervous system that can cause other health issues. This is why it is so important to have your baby/child’s spine evaluated for spinal SUBLUXATIONS.
The chiropractic adjustment that a baby or child receives is altered from that of an adult, it is much more gentle and specific for their small structure.
